All I ever wanted was the World: a Coloring Book & Curation of Showerthoughts

A book of lined drawings inspired by r/showerthoughts paired with writings, excerpts, perspectives. Whimsical but also thoughtful, and aims to provoke thought about existence, political issues and the biggest challenges of our time. In other words, a coloring book that stresses you out.

How to use all I ever wanted was the world:

This book started as a way for me to draw, and draw away, things on my mind.

Now, it can be a book for you to do the same.

In the two dozen pages that follow are lined drawings inspired by my favorites from r/showerthoughts. Fill them with pencil, paint, crayon; collages of your mom; stardust, secrets, tears.

Each showerthought can be interpreted differently to tell a variety of stories –– some more whimsical, others about the greatest challenges of our time. Some storylines stood out to me more than others, and to highlight those trains of thought, I’ve paired each drawing with a quote, statistic, or perspective. These I came across at some point in the past two years and left a mark on me.

These are marks that I ask you to build upon too as I’m sure each piece will speak to you in different ways than they spoke to me. The white space between these pages is for you to fill with your own showerthoughts and storylines.

I had a lot of fun making this. Enjoy!
